Quick Update

I’m sorry I have not posted in awhile. Part of the reason is that we’ve been busy with the usual family shenanigans that accompany this time of year. But I’ve also avoided posting because I’m superstitious and Jordan has been doing exceptionally well. The quick version of the story: she’s very mobile, feeling very well, and exceedingly happy. She’s on a break from chemo for the next few weeks (which adds to the happiness).

Outside In

I wish there was a more eloquent way to say she’s doing great. She is. So I will. She’s doing great. And I probably notice it more than others in the family because I’ve been traveling so much. Being away for several days only makes her progress more apparent. Her progress is staggering. I go away and when I come back she’s more vibrant, animated and … well, Jordan. Her physical therapy team re-evaluated her this week.

Aurora Jordan

She sleeps in a pink castle, cream colored cheeks against a fluffy purple pillow. The castle is really a square tent with four spires and an arched entry flap. She asked her mom to erect it in her room next to her bed. Last night it is where she slept, and this afternoon it is where she napped. Through the mesh windows I spied her, resting contentedly in a blissful stillness.

On Plan

I’ve been on the road, but my nightly phone calls with Jordan have been encouraging. She’s talkative and keeping her chin up. She restarted chemotherapy yesterday with no complications – and little fuss.

Humbled

I’ve seen a lot. Working in entertainment does that to you. There are a myriad of memories and experiences that caused me to sigh and feel so little in comparison to the apparition of greatness. A David Lean tracking shot. A Bob Dyland lyric. The helicopter onslaught in Apocalypse Now. The opening strains of Aida. A Hockney portrait. Jordan. She may be the most humbling experience of my life. She’s so strong, so noble, so dignified.
